Into the second half and it was Mid Calder who almost found an equaliser in the 1st minute after the restart. A free kick 25 yards out sailing literally inches over. Pumpherston managed to stretch their lead again when 5 minutes in Angus dribbled the ball to about 25 yards out and fed through to Ally, Ally stepped into the box and drove the ball into the net, under the Mid Calder Goalie.
5-3 Pumpherston
Two minutes later Corey was introduced to the game and this time did have an immediate impact, collecting the ball in the D, central to goal he hit a great shot for Pumpherston's 6th and surely the goal to seal it?
6-3 Pumpherston
Mid Calder weren't about to give up though. After winning a series of throws on the near side they pressured the Pumpherston goal. Mid Calder's striker drove parallel to the Pumphy 18 yard line before finding space and letting go of a superb strike that drew appreciation from both sides.
6-4 Pumpherston
Two minutes later Pumpherston were back in Mid Calder's danger area and it was again the Mid Calder keeper that was to superbly deny a scrambled Pumpherston shot before the ball was cleared to safety. 20 minutes into the half and Corey came off for James who had been replaced earlier. Mid Calder grabbed the momentry lapse during the reshuffle to grab their 5th and put the presure back onto the home side.
6-5 Pumpherston
At this stage a clearance from Pumpherston saw the match ball wedged well and truely into the top of probably one of the tallest trees surrounding the park, the delayed restart was a welcome moment for the players in both squads to grab a breath while the ball was replaced. Mid Calder received two free kicks within minutes from practically the same spot 25 yards out as their earlier free kick, the first was hit a foot over the bar while the second more driven shot was soaked up in the Pumpherston wall.
The last attempts on goal belonged to Pumpherston though. Mid Calder's keeper made another great save as he dived right on his goal line to tip a Scotty strike around the post and away for a corner, the last strike was from Wayne about 6 yards out from the resultant corner but came back off the base of the near post and was hooked away.
Final Score - Pumpherston United 6 Mid Calder Colts 5.
