BFC Linlithgow v Pumpherston United 07-03-2009

Pumpherston United grabbed an important point thanks to a last gasp equaliser in Saturday's league match against BFC Linlithgow. The game was a reversed fixture with Pumpherston United taking the role of the home team.

And it was Pumpherston who were to take the lead on 10 minutes despite Linlithgow's early pressure. Nathan picked up the ball in midfield and played a superb through ball to James out on the right wing. James played the ball directly into Liam's path and Liam showed great composure to net under the advancing BFC 'keeper.

Linlithgow added some pressure of their own as the first half drew to a close and equalised with just 3 minutes of the first half to go.

Half Time BFC Linlithgow 1-1 Pumpherston United

Into the second half and it was Linlithgow's turn to take the lead. Within 5 minutes of the restart a surge from midfield saw the ball payed through to a BFC forward and a helpless Scott could do nothing to stop the ball hitting the back of the net. Both teams played well throughout the second half with the balance seeming to shift in Pumpherston's favour as time progressed. Despite a number of chances for both teams it looked like the points would be going with Linlithgow. After 70 minutes it was 2-1 Linlithgow, however some excellent finishing and determination from John saw him slip through the BFC defence to grab an important equaliser during injury time. A very important goal indeed and a great finish to boot.

Full Time - BFC Linlithgow 2-2 Pumpherston United

Linlithgow will be disappointed to have dropped a point so late on in the game but for Pumpherston it's a point well won. The result has seen Pumpherston move up to 8th place in the A league, just 3 points off 4th spot with a game in hand.
