Pumpherston United v Livi Lions FC Boys Club:
Pumpherston United 1997 gained a convincing home win over Livi Lions FC Boys Club this morning to pull into a 3 way tie for second place on 29 points however, Pumpherston have at least a 4 game advantage on the leaders and some teams surrounding them. Pumpherston travel to Polbeth on Monday 26th (KO at 18:30) then a home game on Wednesday 28th v Armadale Sports Club KO to be confirmed.

20-04-2010:

Pumpherston United v Fauldhouse United Star:

Pumpherston played some great passing football in horrible first half conditions. Two goals in the first half on 8 then 20 minutes from Kye was a fair reflection of Pumpherston's possesion although Fauldhouse always looked to catch us out. Fauldhouse United Star pulled one back with 5 minutes to go of the first half with a brilliant free kick from 20+ yards out that dipped in under the bar.

Into the second half and Pumpherston continued to enjoy the lion's share of the ball although again, Pumphy had to be wary of Fauldhouse on the break, particularly the number 10 on the left. The Fauldhouse keeper was kept busy and put in a great performance but as Fauldhouse started to press for the equaliser Pumpherston finally broke the defence again with 15 minutes left - a 1 yard tap in from Jimbo from a cross ball left the Fauldhouse Star keeper stranded and allowed the home side to see out the game with a little less pressure.

Winning Post Cup Round 1: Whitburn FCA v Pumpherston United

18.04.2010

Pumpherston United 1997 secured a place in the quarter finals of the Winning Post Cup after a confirdent 4-0 win away from home over Whitburn FCA. A superb 20 yard free kick by Ryan and goals by Nathan, Jack and Jacob were enough to book a place in the next round. Well played both teams, well done Pumpherston United.

v

11.10.2010

Pumpherston United v Fauldhouse Reds
Pumpherston United U15 suffered their second league defeat in two weeks despite enjoying the majority of play in today's match. The home side conceded their first goal just 8 minutes into the game. A soft free kick was conceded on the corner of the 18 yard box. Fauldhouse knocked the ball into the crowded 6 yard box where it was succesfully nodded home without much resistance. Pumpherston applied the pressure but couldn't make the break through. Although it wasn't all one way traffic, Pumpherston will surely feel that they should have been at least level at the break.

Going into the second half and it was more of the same. Pumpherston again enjoyed the majority of play and made several pressing runs into the 'house penalty area but were unlucky on a number of ocassions as they could only watch shots steering wide of the posts or being stopped at close range by the Fauldhouse Reds' keeper. Fauldhouse always looked dangerous on the break and it was during one of these breaks that Fauldhouse sealed the points. A break away 21 minutes into the second half saw the 'house number 10 slot the ball under the outstretched Scott in the Pumphy goal. Pumpherston kept going, looking to at least make it a nervy last 20 minutes for the visitors but it wasn't to be. If Pumpherston had their shooting boots on today this could have been a very different story but the ball in the net is what counts. Pumpherston can take pride from the quality of football on display though, the lad's efforts could never be questioned! Well played both teams.

WLAYFC B League - Forth Colts v Pumpherston United FC

Forth Colts came from behind twice against Pumpherston United to hold our battling squad to their first draw of the season. Pumpherston opened the scoring only to be brought back to level terms minutes later. Pumpherston managed to nose in front before half time however, a second half strike from Forth saw the points shared. Coach Phil was delighted with Pumpherston's performance. The squad has been affected by injuries recently and took to taday's game without any subs. Phil said "The game was always going to be tough because Forth are a good side and we were without options - for each of our players to play through the whole game shows a tremendous team spirit. Their attitude and work rate today was brilliant". Well played to both teams for serving up areally exciting game and lots of good football.

 V

U15 Murieston United Red v Pumpherston United Pumpherston:

21-03-2010

Pumpherston United 1995 jumped 2 places in the league after a 4-0 win away from home at Murieston United Red. Two goals in the first half and two in the second were enough to secure both points and a move up the table. Kye was first to score when he collected a through ball just inside the box and rounded the keeper to slot home. Jimbo added a second before half time with a composed finish. Into the second half and it was a brace from Wayne that secured the points, two very well taken shots from the edge of the 18 yard box deceiving the keeper on both ocassions. Pumpherston could have increased the scoreline but for a great display from Murieston's keeper and a little more accuracy in front of goal. A clean sheet for Scott, Jack, Ally, Nathan and Michael and some good displays by new signings Corey and Ryan added to today's positive outcome.

Result: Under 13's: WLAYFC League v Whitburn FCA

20.03.2010

Pumpherston United 1997 came from a goal behind to close the gap on the league leaders this morning after a good home win over Whitburn FCA. Whitburn scored first, within 5 minutes but Pumpherston steadily impressed on the game finishing the first half 5-1 to the good. Pumpherston added another 3 before full time without reply, Murphy's strong strike from just inside the box being the pick of the three. With Forth Colts playing in the County Cup and Queensferry without a fixture, the 2 points gained from today's win brings Pumpherston within 2 points of 2nd place and 3 points on the league leaders Queensferry Thistle.

Pumpherston United progress in the League Cup:
14.03.2010

Pumpherston United 95's reach the Semi-Final of the Bob Lambie Cup courtesy of an exciting 6-5 win over Mid Calder Colts. Goals from Wayne, James, Kye, James (Jimbo), Ally and Corey were enough to see off the visitors in a topsy turvey game that saw Pumpherston take the lead before falling behind and then regaining the lead all in a 15 minute spell. Match Report Available.

V

Result: Under 13's: WLAYFC County Cup Fixture:

13.03.2010

Pumpherston United 1997 fell short of reaching the 3rd Round of the County Cup after they lost this morning's home fixture by a single first half goal to Broxburn Athletic Colts United. It was an evenly matched game that saw the A league outfit progress courtesy of a breakthrough halfway through the first period. Corrie came close to levelling in the first half with a shot that went just inches wide with Broxburn hitting the crossbar too. However, it was as close as the ball got to crossing the line and as the second half ended in a stalemate it was the visitors that left with the narrow victory. Well played both teams and all the best to Broxburn.

V

Result - Under 13's: Pumpherston United 4-1 Forth Colts

06.03.2010

Pumpherston United 1997 closed the gap on second place in the league to just 2 points after a 4-1 win over second placed Forth Colts at the rearranged venue of Holmes Park this morning. The win makes it 9 from 9 in the league so far as Pumpherston look to get involved in the top of the table tussle.

 v

U13 Livingston FC Boys Club Lions v Pumpherston United (League):

20-02-2010

Pumpherston United 1997 continued their ascent on the B league table with a 6-0 win over Livingston FC Boys Club Lions on the Field Turf at Livingston FC's Stadium. The game was switched from Howden due to the intended venue being frozen solid. The third generation astro turf facilities at the town's Senior Club allowed the game to go ahead despite the current cold snap. Six first half goals from Pumpherston including a great 25 yard volley from Callum, a hat trick from Nathan and goals from Jakob and Ryan were enough to earn both points after a stalemate in the second 35 minutes provided no goals.

 V

Bob Lambie Cup 1st round tie:

14-02-2010

Pumpherston United 95 progressed into the second round of the Bob Lambie B League Cup after a 3-0 home win over Polbeth United this morning. Pumpherston got off to a flying start with a goal from James within the first minute of the match. The home team kept their advantage right through the first half, going in 1-0 to the good after 40 minutes. Six minutes into the second half and Pumpherston extended their lead; a packed Polbeth United box tried in vain to clear their lines however James struck the ball into the back of the net, aided by an unfortunate Polbeth Defender who could do little to keep the ball out. Polbeth were reduced to 10 players shortly after goal number two but Pumpherston had to wait a further 15 minutes to make the numbers count, a well taken goal by Angus. Pumpherston retain home advantage for round 2 when they welcome Mid Calder Colts.

RESULT - U13 Pumpherston United 2-1 Broxburn Athletic Colts United (League):

13-02-2010

Pumpherston United extended their 100% league run this morning in a close run game against Broxburn Athletic Colts United. Pumpherston enjoyed the majority of possession however Broxburn's defence and particularly their excellent keeper kept Pumpherston at bay. Half way through the first half it was the visitors that took the lead although Pumpherston managed to get back on level terms before the half drew to a close. Persistance finally saw the home team break the visitor's steadfastness once more as Pumphy edged into the lead during the second half. Broxburn almost had the last word late on but Pumpherston managed to take both points on offer. An exciting game in Pumpherston and a great display from everyone involved.

1995 B League Broxburn Athletic fold...

Feb-2010

Pumpherston learned the sad news from the WLAYFC that B league team Broxburn Athletic Colts United have folded as of February 2010. It's always sad to see a team fold under any circumstances and Pumpherston wish all involved best wishes in whatever lies ahead. As a consequence all points gained by the remaining B League teams will now be deducted as Broxburn had not fulfilled 50% or more of their fixtures this season.

The 1995 B League table on the '95 team pages has now been updated.

V

95's in County Cup exit:

07-02-2010

Pumpherston United 95 exited the County Cup in the 3rd round following an 8-1 away defeat at Bathgate Rose. Pumpherston made things more difficult than it should have been when they conceded a goal in the very first minute. Bathgate went on to score a further 3 goals in the first without reply however it wasn't all one way traffic. Pumpherston had their own share of chances but couldn't find the back of the net on 3 very good occasions. Pumpherston netted first in the second half after some fine work down the right wing resulted in a composed finish from Wayne however, this goal was quickly cancelled out by a fine Bathgate strike that also dulled any hopes of Pumpherston getting back into contention. Pumpherston continued to press but Bathgate Rose showed their finishing prowess adding another 3 before the final whistle blew. A battling performance from the visitors against one of the strongest teams at this age level in the County.

Return to football action delayed for Pumpherston United:

Despite an eagerness to play regular football the Pumpherston United squads have continued to be frustrated at call off after call off due to the weather and unsuitable pitch conditions through out the County, home and away. Although the training has continued the under 15's haven't kicked a ball in competition since their 7-2 win over Shotts Vics in the County Cup on November the 8th while, the under 13's have encountered their own delays and haven't played since their 7-1 away win over Armadale Sports Club United in the league on the 28th of November. With teams from all over West Lothian experiencing the same circumstances it's hoped that the New Year will bring a welcomed break in the weather and some football action to the County's 100's of teams.

 V

Result: U15 Pumpherston United 7-2 Shotts Vics - County Cup 2nd Rnd:

08.11.2009

Pumpherston United U15 moved into the 3rd round of the County Cup, defeating A league Shotts Vics at Pumpherston Park this morning. Two goals from Angus and a third added by Kye looked to have the home side in control however a last minute goal in the first half from Shotts meant it was all to play for in the second half.

Half Time Pumpherston 3-1 Shotts Vics.

Matthew put Pumpherston back in the driving seat with a sublime strike for goal number 4 ten minutes into the second before new recruit James scored number 5. His second goal in two sub appearances shows he's settling in well with an eye for goal. Shotts pulled another goal back before Pumpherston's Scott netted twice before the final whistle.

Full Time Pumpherston 7-2 Shotts Vics.

This  game wasn't all about the goals though; Pumpherston played some excellent passing football all over the pitch with each and every player on the field doing their bit. It's the sort of football that in the past Pumpherston have displayed in periods however, today it lasted for the full 80 minutes. A mention to Scott in goals too, a great save from a wonderfully hit Shotts free kick in the second half disrupted any shift in momentum to Shotts for the final 15. A very good performance against a strong and capable Shotts team. Pictures.

The lads returned with both points and so ensured that the team continue their push near the top of the table. At times it seemed like Pumpherston wanted to do it the hard way this morning, sometimes negating the easy option however, the boys can be as pleased as the coaches and supporters with their win today. The points earned will keep Pumpherston in with promotion chances.

RESULT: Pumpherston United Under 13's off and running in the league:

10-10-09

Pumpherston United U13's gave their league campaign a kick start in a thrilling 10-2 away win against Forth Royals. Coach Phil Hay stressed that what was more important than the scoreline was that the team bonded well because they had added 7 new players recently and this can sometimes take a while to gel. He said that fellow coach Andy and himself were proud of the link up play, passing and movement on and off the ball. Goals from Kieren, Jacob, Jason and Ryan in the first half were followed by two more from Ryan for his hat-trick in the second half. Also on the score sheet in the second were Calum, Nathan, Keiran, Jacob and Craig.

Pumpherston attended the match with just 12 players due to injuries to Ben, Sam and Scott. Everyone at Pumpherston United wish the boys a speedy recovery and hope to see them back on the pitch soon.

 v

RESULT: U15 South East Regional Cup tie:

04-10-09

Pumpherston United U15's exited the South East Regional Cup on Sunday despite a valliant fight back in the second half. The Pumphy boys found themselves 4-1 down at half time, Pumpherston's goal coming from a Liam wonder strike! Into the second half and Pumpherston pressed hard with Sean scoring twice to bring us back into contention with 10 minutes to go. A Hutchison Vale goal 5 minutes from time was enough to extinguish any lingering hopes of a round 3 tie for the West Lothian team.

v

RESULT: U13 South East Regional Cup tie:

03-10-09

Pumpherston United U13's lost out on a place in the 3rd round South East Regional Cup following a 6-4 defeat at Bonnyrigg Rose FC.

v

RESULT: Tynecastle FC end Pumpherston United's U15 Scottish Cup hopes:

27-09-09

Pumpherston United were beaten 9-0 in Edinburgh in this afternoon's Scottish Cup 2nd round tie. Despite hitting the bar early on and more than holding their own against Edinburgh's 1st Division leaders for most of the first half, Pumpherston found themselves 4 down at the end of the first forty minutes. Tynecastle's first goal was well worked however they were fortunate with the 2nd when the ref missed two Tynecastle players standing offside, one of the pair nabbing number two. Two quick goals from Tynecastle just before the end of the first half seemed to kill the game off but the score didn't reflect how well Pumpherston had played for the majority of the play to that point. A quick goal from Tynie in the second saw the Pumphy heads drop and the Edinburgh team went on to add 4 more before the close of play. Pumpherston's football in the first half was good, even though most of it was played at a fair gradient on the Tynecastle slope! Unfortunatley the game, and Scottish Cup was over for the club at the end of the first. See photographs from today's game here

v

RESULT: Ineos CFC v Pumpherston United:

26-09-09

Pumpherston United under 13's missed out on a place in the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup after a narrow 3-1 defeat in Grangemouth against A league Ineos Community FC. Although the defeat puts an end to Pumphy's Scottish Cup run, coach Phil said that the players should be proud aas proud as him of their excellent performance. The focus now shifts to the South East Regional cup where Pumpherston travel to play Bonnyrigg Rose FC in the 2nd round.

 v

RESULT: Pumpherston United U15's continue fine league run:

20-09-09

The Under 15's kept their league form up to date with a fine 5-1 win over Polbeth United on Sunday. The win moves the team up to joint 4th with at least 1 game in hand on those around us and just 2 points off Livingston Hearts White who sit in 3rd spot. Two goals from James and 1 from Sean put Pumphi in the driving seat at half time however, a penalty awarded against us 10 minutes into the second half meant the boys had to raise their game to see the match out. Pumpherston were creating chances by this stage but not converting until Scott popped up with a fine strike for number 4 before Sean sealed the game from within the 6 yard box for the 5th.

RESULT: Pumpherston United U15's complete weekend Cup double:

13-09-09

Pumpherston United U15's rounded off a good week of football for Pumpherston United FC by completing a 9-2 win over Edinburgh's AC Oxgangs Colts in the South East Regional Cup. The 95's win came courtesy of two goals in the first half, both of which were cancelled out, and a superb second half performance that netted 7 goals without reply. The cup win completes a good weekend that also saw the U13's progress in the Scottish Cup. Match report and pics from today's under 15 game to follow.

RESULT: Pumpherston United U13's Scottish Cup continues:

12-09-09

Pumpherston United U13's followed up last week's SE Regional Cup win with a 1st round Scottish Challenge Cup win this morning. Pumpherston beat Newcraighall Leith Victoria 1-0 at Pumpherston Park. A lovely sunshine filled morning saw Pumpherston United control most of the first half scoring early on courtesy of number 15's looping shot. Pumpherston continued to threaten throughout the first half, hitting the crossbar and the post in the later stages of the first 35 minutes. Into the second half and it was a more determined Newcraighall Leith Victoria that made Pumpherston feel the pressure, NCLV seeing their own efforts stopped by the woodwork and a very alert Pumphi keeper. Both teams had opportunities to score but Pumpherston held on, and indeed were unlucky to see a last minute goal ruled offside. Newcraighall proved tough opposition and played very well throughout. Well done all.

Action all the way with Pumpherston United this weekend:

12/13.09.09

30-08-2009

Goals from Sean and Kye early in the second half seemed to seal the game however Fauldhouse pulled one back to create a bit of a nervy spell. Jack snuffed out any concerns though when he grabbed number 5 before Sean sealed his hat-trick for number 6. Kye finished the game off grabbing a brace and goal number 7. Well played the lads.
