Whitburn Rose 0-5 Pumpherston United

The Under 13’s made the short trip along to the King George V park @ Whitburn on league business last Saturday.

The first chance of the game fell to Pumpherston, some good attacking play broke down in the Whitburn box and their defensive clearance found Corrie out on the left near the half-way line he quickly gained control of the ball and drove in on goal and from over 18 yards out unleashed a thunderous shot that just flew inches over the crossbar.

The first goal of the game came from good interchanges of play between Kieran , Jacob & Nathan and the move finished off by Callum to continue his fine scoring form from last week.

The team were working hard to impose themselves in a half that also seen a fine shot from Jacob undeservedly rebound off the base of the post. It wasn’t all one way traffic for Pumpherston as a quick Whitburn attack and what looked a certain goal scoring opportunity was averted by a superb goal line clearance from Ryan.

The second goal was to come for Pumpherston's Nathan who was playing out of position and leading the attack, a quick free kick from the half way line sees an alert Nathan race through the Whitburn defence collect the ball and slot his shot passed the advancing goalkeeper.

The first half finishes 0-2

The second half starts with the introduction of Liam & Jacen on the left they were both quickly up to the fast pace of the game and creating chances for Pumpherston to increase their half-time lead. A neat ball inside from Liam to Craig and he finishes off the move with a well taken goal along with a shot that nearly burst the net for Craig’s second Pumpherston increase their lead to 0-4.

The move and goal of the game came from a strong run from Jacen into the corner and with an intelligent ball back to Liam in free space on the corner of the 18 yard box he had time to look up pick his spot and hit a great shot across the goalkeeper into the far corner of the net, 0-5.

The hard working Pumpherston defence dealt with the threat form the Whitburn attack and deservedly kept a clean sheet for the game as the final whistle blew.

A word of acknowledgement for the Whitburn players who had some good passages of play also and showed a good attitude for their football.
