Pumpherston United v Armadle Sports Club United
@ Linlithgow

The game was switched to Linlithgow as our home park was waterlogged by the recent bad weather. Pumpherston started slowest of the two teams and Armadale took advantage of that, opening the scoring to make it 0-1. This seemed to wake Pumpherston up who were soon level after some neat work from Jack to feed Jason D in to make the score 1-1.

Armadale soon restored their lead in this keenly contested match with a speculative strike that saw the visitors regain their one goal advantage 1-2. Another wake up call for Pumpherston and this time a well timed run from Jack to beat the off side trap and a penalty from Jacob saw Pumphy take the lead for the first time in the match 3-2.

From some continued pressure a resultant corner kick saw the ball played out to Jack on the edge of the box and when his shot left his boot there was only one place it was going to stop as it curled past the out rushing defence and keeper to hit the back of the net for Pumpherston. The home side went in at half time in the lead.

Half Time 4-2

Pumpherston started brightly at the start of the second half. Midfield had control of the game and good communication from Ryan, Scott, Corrie & Grant nullifying the Armadle goal threat. Jason D was to cap a fine comeback performance after his lay off through injury with his second goal of the game; a sweet strike from the edge of the box and equally Jack in only his second game converted a penalty for his hatrick. Between these goals Armadale alsoe netted, taking the scoring to 6-3.

The Pumpherston midfield seemed to switch off for the last 15mins of the game and Armadale took advantage to bring the score back to 6-5 with two quick goals. This led to a tight finish, the final chance of the game fell to Armadale, their striker breaking through the Pumphy defence and bearing down on what looked a certain goal scoring chance to level the game however Ben was quick off his line to narrow the striker's options and diving at his feet to make the difference between wining and drawing the game pulled off a great save to push the ball wide and Corrie to complete the defensive clearance.
